DotNetNuke Update
One of CrystalTech’s early slogans was ‘For Developers, By Developers’ and supporting developers, programmers and the open-source community remains very important to us. In that regard, we recently became a Platinum Sponsor of DotNetNuke (DNN).

In related news, we have already made the latest version of DNN available in the WebControlCenter. It is available for automatic install on our ASP.NET 2.0 Intermediate plans and up and can be found in the Resources section of the Menu.

This new version, Version 4.4.1, is twice as responsive with a significant reduction in page load times. It consumes half the memory of previous versions of the framework and includes some new extensibility enhancements in terms of its modular software architecture, providing superior performance and scalability.

ColdFusion MX Semi-Dedicated Launch
As you may be already be aware, we recently began offering our Semi-Dedicated plans again in December. At that launch, only ASP.NET plans were available. We wanted our ColdFusion aficionados to know that we did not forget about them as we now offer a ColdFusion MX Semi-Dedicated plan!

While still residing on a shared server with the full automation offered by our WebControlCenter™, this plan provides a more robust environment with a low number of sites per server. Not only does it offer both ColdFusion MX 7.0.2 and ASP.NET 2.0, users will experience an advanced level of site performance without the management requirements of their own dedicated server.

New SQL Backup Tool
We’ve been hard at work adding another useful feature to the WebControlCenter. We recently added a new tool that automates backups or restores of SQL databases stored on our shared servers.

Now instead of requesting a manual backup from our Support team, you can quickly backup or restore any SQL 2000 and 2005 databases hosted on our shared servers for a small fee (it’s just $5 per restore). To use this convenient, time-saving tool, login into the WebControlCenter and click on Database -> MS SQL 2000 or MS SQL 2005 and select MSSQL Backup Database or MSSQL Restore Database. This is just one of the many enhancements we will be adding to the WebControlCenter this year. Not only does it offer more administration tools than any other control panel, we are able to continually add new, helpful features for our customers, like this SQL backup tool, since the WebControlCenter was designed and customized exclusively for our shared network.

AJAX Support
We are proud to announce support for the just released ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 framework on all of our ASP.NET 2.0 shared hosting plans. Following our long tradition of releasing the latest technologies as soon as we possibly can, we were able to support AJAX just a day after its release to the public.

Formerly known as “Atlas”, AJAX 1.0 (aka Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) allows programmers to quickly create more efficient and interactive web content that works across all the most popular Internet browsers. The AJAX interface accesses remote services and data directly from the web browser, thereby reducing the number of post backs to the host server for a more seamless and natural experience for visitors at your website.
