Year-In-Review
Welcome to the first CrystalTech newsletter for 2007, and we hope everyone had a
great holiday season. With the New Year begun, we wanted to take a look back at
some of the newsworthy events of ’06:
- February - Linux Dedicated Servers
We launched our Linux Dedicated Servers, ideal for the core Linux user. Along with
the ability to install any software, each server comes with a wide range of preinstalled
software, including CentOS, Apache, PHP, MySQL and more.
- February - Memory Increases
We also began offering dedicated customers the ability to increase the amount of
RAM in their servers early in the year thereby allowing the server to grow with
the business needs of the customer.
- February - SmarterMail Upgrades
We started updating our shared mail servers to SmarterMail 3.0. Version 4.0, which
includes an added emphasis on anti-spam measures, has been officially released,
and we will begin the process of upgrading our mail servers in the near future.
- March - Website Redesign
We launched new user-friendlier versions of the CrystalTech website – two major
revisions of the website has to be some kind of CrystalTech record.
- June - Microsoft Partnership
We achieved Certified Partner status and Advanced Infrastructure Competency with
Microsoft due to our high degree of competence and expertise with Microsoft technologies.
- July - 80,000+ Milestone
We reached another important milestone in our company’s history as CrystalTech passed
the 80,000 hosted domain mark.
- July - ColdFusion Update
We also updated our shared ColdFusion servers to version 7.0.2 which added Adobe
Flex 2, a framework for easily building rich internet applications.
- August - SAS 70 Completion
Through a comprehensive third-party audit of the various control activities we utilize
for our hosting and related processes, we passed a SAS 70 Type I audit in late summer.
We plan on receiving, and passing, a SAS 70 Type II certification in 2007.
- September - Integral Partnership
We formed a new partnership with Intergral to utilize FusionReactor™, advanced software
that has helped us increase application availability and reduce response times on
our shared ColdFusion servers. An added benefit of that partnership is that customers
can purchase Intergral ColdFusion management applications at a discounted rate.
- September - Open Source Sponsorships
We started official sponsorships with DotNetNuke and CentOS, displaying our continuous
support to the open source community. We plan on achieving Platinum Level sponsorship
with DotNetNuke early next month.
- WebControlCenter: Past, Present and Beyond
Throughout the year, we added new tools to our WebControlCenter, including the ability
to transfer existing domains names to our registrar. As the WebControlCenter was
created, developed and is managed in-house, we have many other exciting changes
in store for ’07, including the ability to backup and restore your Microsoft SQL
2000 and/or SQL 2005 databases – stay tuned!
And peering into the crystal ball, CrystalTech has some impressive new offerings
planned for 2007 as we strive to match all of your hosting needs. Along with more
Semi-Dedicated plans, including larger allocations and plans for ColdFusion MX users,
we will be offering VPS hosting along with other enhancements and additions throughout
the year as well.
As always, stay tuned for product announcements right here in this newsletter, and
we hope 2007 is a successful year for all of our customers!
