Infrastructure
CrystalTech's state-of-the-art infrastructure is located in Scottdale, Arizona
and is one of the most well-connected and reliable data center
facilities in the Western United States. Our Tier 4 N+1 datacenter is monitored
and supported 24/7/365 by our own onsite network administrators.
Hosting with CrystalTech offers
the benefits of Arizona's highly stable climate with virtually zero risk of natural disasters
(e.g. earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, etc.).
For the utmost in service, uptime and redundancy, CrystalTech utilizes the latest
technologies and security precautions, including:
Every server within the CrystalTech network utilizes a multi-gigabit fiber optic
backbone. Each segment is supported by a separate gigabit sub network, eliminating
data saturation. This method optimizes internal bandwidth and ensures that each
of our servers and IP addresses is connected at its fullest potential.
We have complete redundancy within our core network from top to bottom. From our
peers, border routers, firewalls, core routers, and even down to the connection
to the individual segments, multiple redundancies are utilized throughout for uninterrupted
connections. All network equipment in use is enterprise, service provider grade
with redundancy within the devices as well.
The datacenter is fed from multiple grids through loop-fed transformers and diverse
entry vaults with 2 x 3,000 Amp (480v) A/C feeds. CrystalTech uses top-of-the-line
UPS systems for protection against power spikes and outages. In the unlikely event
that power is ever lost, the datacenter is backed by on-site back-up power generation
from dual 1.5MVA diesel generators with 80,000 gallon diesel reserves.
Besides being one of the largest data center facilities in the western United States,
the DPTE facility is one of the largest Point of Presence in the entire Southwest.
We utilize GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) connections to the Internet and have access to
over 40 different fiber providers at the facility, for a superior level of thru-put
and adequate failure protection. CrystalTech’s carriers of choice include Qwest
Communications and AboveNet.
The speed of which your site displays lies most importantly on the Internet connections
of your provider. CrystalTech follows this methodology by using only Tier 1 providers.
Thus, the majority of your website visitors will not cross other networks to reach
our servers and your website.
We use a blend of open source, third party and in-house developed applications to
monitor our traffic at all times for superior connectivity. We also maintain our
own BGP (Border Gateway Protocol, where routers share information for loop-free
routes) sessions with our peers to custom blend our own traffic. This allows us
to preference certain routes through different peers when we deem necessary for
an enhanced level of load balancing.
Housed within an industrial-grade, blast-resistant concrete structure, the DPTE
facility conforms to the strictest physical security standards. Security measures
include state-of-the-art biometric and physical control devices, manned 24/7/365
security and video surveillance.
For enhanced protection, the facility features advanced fire detection and suppression
which includes state-of-the-art pre-action fire protection and life safety systems.
The datacenter utilizes a temperature and particulate controlled environment with
Liebert HVAC units, arranged in redundant paths with 18 foot ceiling heights for
superior heat loss and airflow.
CrystalTech utilizes other enhanced internal security measures as well to protect
customer websites, data and personal information. CrystalTech is SAS 70 (Statement
on Auditing Standards No. 70) certified as our internal control activities passed
a comprehensive third-party audit standard developed by the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants. You can also view CrystalTech's Security Information
