March 2006 Technical Focus
IN THIS ISSUE:
- New CrystalTech Website
- Control Center Resources
New CrystalTech Website
We just launched a brand new version of the CrystalTech website. It includes a new,
streamlined look as we did not change much in the way of menu structure and page
names. We have also included a few more "overview" pages that provide some general
info on shared versus dedicated hosting (https://www.crystaltech.com/web-hosting.aspx),
our small business services (https://www.crystaltech.com/smbservices.aspx), etc.
If you link to our website or to pages within our website, you'll want to be aware
that we changed over to a .NET project for the site. Therefore, all pages on our
website now use the .aspx extension versus .htm. However, links to the .htm pages
will still work as users will be automatically redirect to the new page extension.
Take a look around our new website, and as always, please feel free to let us know
what you think.
Control Center Resources
It is our effort to not only provide our customers with the best web hosting found
in the industry today but also offer the most feature-packed control panel in the
industry. While you may be very familiar with most aspects of our Control Center,
we wanted to point out some free useful Resources that you may not be aware of.
After you login into the Control Center (https://www.webcontrolcenter.com/customer.aspx),
you will find the Resources tab at the very bottom of the tree menu. Click on any
of the following tools and follow the instructions you are prompted with to complete
the install.
SiteCenter
All shared hosting customers have access to the remarkably easy-to-use CTsitecenter
tool found in this Resources tab. This online site builder, editor and file manager
includes a number of pre-built templates that allows you to quickly build a website
with no programming experience. Just chose a template, drop in your text and photos
and within minutes, your website is built. You can even open and edit HTML pages
not created by the CTsitecenter.
.NET Starter Kits
ASP.NET Intermediate customers and up have access in the Resources tab to automatic
installs of the Portal, Reports and Time Tracker Starter Kits. Each kit is a sample
ASP.NET application that provides code to accomplish common web development tasks.
The Portal Starter Kit demonstrates how you can use ASP.NET and the .NET framework
to build a dynamic portal application. The Reports Starter Kit provides a simple
data reporting solution for displaying multiple views on data, creating charts and
rendering any type of data in a web application. The Time Tracker Starter Kit demonstrates
how to build a line-of-business ASP.NET application to track the time worked on
projects.
ZenCart Install
With the majority of our hosting plans, you will find an automatic CTzencart install
in the Resources tab. This shopping cart program offers a robust and customizable
storefront that's easy to update. CTzencart works perfectly with CTmerchant and
CTmerchantlite, our payment gateway solution, and other leading payment modules,
such as PayPal and AuthorizeNet. Other key features include multiple shipping and
payment methods, eBay auction support and numerous merchandise pricing options for
sales and promotions.
DotNetNuke Install
ASP.NET Intermediate customers and up also have access to this install in the Resources
tab. DotNetNuke is an open source framework ideal for creating professional web
applications. Powerful and feature-packed, it comes loaded with a set of built-in
tools that provide powerful pieces of functionality. Design, content and security
can be easily managed and customized through these tools.
We also will soon offer the most recently released versions of DotNetNuke (4.0.2
for .NET 2.0 plans and 3.2 for .NET 1.1 plans) in the near future.
