SmarterMail 3.0
SmarterTools has released their most comprehensive version of SmarterMail yet! After an extensive testing phase by both CrystalTech as well as by a number of customers, we are now scheduling upgrades to our shared mail servers. In our efforts to provide customers with all the convenience of the latest and greatest technologies available without the inconvenience of an increase in monthly costs, we will be offering customers the Enterprise version of SmarterMail 3.0, and all of the collaborative features this version brings, with absolutely NO INCREASE to your monthly hosting fees.

CrystalTech is able to bring you the most useful and collaborative online toolset available in the hosting industry. Accurate research and diligent resources have been strategically spent on providing our customers with the most extensive tools. SmarterMail makes managing your collaborative projects and email a virtually effortless experience. Every aspect of implementation and deployment has been analyzed and reviewed to make the transition to SmarterMail 3 as short and successful as possible.

New Feature Overview

• Design changes throughout the web interface to improve usability (tabbed interfaces, updated WYSIWYG tool for composing messages, message preview available when viewing mailboxes, etc.)
• The new technology AJAX has been added to the interface to dramatically increase the display of pages and reduce the number of post backs to the server.
• The introduction of Calendaring and Task capabilities which give users the ability to send and accept meeting requests - all of which are compatible in the Web Interface and Outlook clients. If enabled, the ability to review users’ availability is included within the new web interface.
• The ability to share Contacts, Folders and Calendars within a Domain. Examples include the ability to create a Global Address Book for all your users or create Folders for storing documents that all or a subset of users can access.
• The introduction of LDAP support allows customers to use Outlook clients to view Shared Contacts as in the Global Address List on their local machine.
• The ability to manage RSS, RDF and Atom Feeds from within the mail interface. Keep up with the latest news and links to your favorite news sites as easily as you read your email.
• Choose your Time Zone to more accurately display when messages have been received.
• The ability for the Outlook client to link to Contacts and Calendars on the server. View calendared events and contacts as if they were on your machine.
• Introduction of Security Groups to manage users and shared options.

You can also preview messages without downloading an entirely new page. This will increase the initial page load, but allow you to preview and evaluate messages and their content.

Shared Calendaring, Tasks & Contacts
SmarterMail 3 includes a very robust calendaring system where you can send and accept meeting requests and keep track of appointments. You can list your tasks and include status, due date, percentage complete and priority. SmarterMail 3 also adds the ability to link to Outlook™ on your local computer so you can view calendared events and contacts as if they were on your machine.

With the addition of Groupware, you can share your calendar, contacts, tasks and email folders with everyone listed within your domain or with specific users or groups. You can even create a global address book for all your users or create folders for storing documents that all or a subset of users can access.

News Aggregators
SmarterMail 3 provides an integrated and easy-to-use RSS, RDF and Atom feed viewer. You can keep up with the latest news and links to your favorite news sites as easily as you read your email. Just add the URL from the news feeds of your choice (there’s easily thousands available on the Internet) and you always be informed in the SmarterMail interface.

Implementation
We have been impressed by the changes we have seen in SmarterMail 3 and think you will be as well. We will be sending out emails shortly, informing you when your particular mail server is scheduled to be upgraded. Much preparation and planning time has been spent so the actual implementation of SmarterMail 3 to your mail server will be virtually seamless.
